Our e-learning system ensures we treat your personal learning needs and when you press the shutter the result is what you expect. We explain what the settings mean so you can take your camera out on any given day in any light conditions and make informed calculated decisions resulting in quality images that you and only you have created.  Master Your DSLR and you will have a lifetime of photography pleasure and thousands of great images to make.

Lesson Structure:

Lesson 1: Understanding the Camera.
In this lesson you will find your way around the camera body and begin the understanding of what all the knobs and buttons are for.  Setting your camera to P you will be required to shoot a few images for your tutor to see where you’re at, what type of photography you like and understand what camera model you use and what you do and don’t know.

Lesson 2: Understanding Exposure How to Shoot in Manual Mode.
This is a transition lesson.  Moving off any presets such as AV, TV or Auto and onto M – Manual Exposure mode.  In this lesson you will learn how the internal camera light meter interprets reflected light.  How to use Aperture and Shutter speed creatively.  What role the ISO plays and how the Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO work together to create the image.

Lesson 3: Understanding the role of the lens.
In this lesson you begin to explore the role of different lens focal lengths. When and why to use a lens and for what purpose.  The differences between shorter and longer focal lengths and how the aperture works with different lens applications.  A great lesson to continue your learning with.

Lesson 4: Advanced exposure techniques.
In this final foundation lesson you will learn the reasons for high and low key exposure.  When to use the different metering modes, how to use the histogram and why the light meter is a guide to exposure.

How does it work?

The eLearning courses allow you to go at your own pace.
Once enrolled you have instant access to the course content.
Your tutor will assess your work and provide a report that contains audio and video of comments and suggestions for you to work on and progress from.

What you’ll need

You’ll need your own camera.  A DSLR is recommended but not compulsory, and access to the internet. A tripod is recommended.  Basic editing software is required.
